RuneScape Developer Jagex Appoints New Executives

RuneScape developer Jagex has made two new executive appointments, with Daniel Clough filling a chief operating officer role and Wendy Rosenthal taking a chief marketing officer position.

Clough originally joined Jagex in 2002 as a customer support staffer, and worked his way up to the top with roles as head of games development, and vice president of RuneScape.

Rosenthal has previously held positions as senior vice president of business development at Sony, and managing director of Hyper Entertainment.

“I’m very excited to be taking on the role of chief operating officer,” Clough said to news site Develop. “Jagex is well positioned to strengthen both its overall games portfolio and player community significantly, and I’m delighted to be able to play a part in making that happen.”

Rosenthal added, “Jagex has been creating amazing games which entertain millions of people across the world for the last ten years. This in itself is a very exciting prospect from a marketing perspective.”

“The company is continuing to invest in great game content for runescape and developing and growing other titles, as well as focusing on marketing its amazing content.”

At the Gamasutra-attended Edinburgh Interactive conference last month, Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard said that developers need to understand “The DNA of Sociability.”
