Waterfall is long and wide

Hey guru’s… Following on from my post here [url=https://www.webpagetest.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=15071&highlight=nirvana]WebPageTest Forums

I have done most of what I think I can do to improve my page load speed. TTFB is down to under one second I think we are on the correct path.

What is bothering me is how “wide” my waterfall is, especially towards to the lower end of the waterfall. See my test here [url=https://www.webpagetest.org/result/180620_6Y_5e201fc87a3a265c6184ecdde7efca1b/1/details/#waterfall_view_step1]WebPageTest Test - WebPageTest Details

Can anyone suggest any other methods, strategies or dark magic that I could do/use to fix this or should I just leave it and be happy with what I have.

TIA

Craig

Could you elaborate on what do you mean by “wide”?

My first assumption is that you are talking on how many rows are being displayed and the “only” way to fix that is to load less assets on the page. Imagine if you only had one HTML file with nothing but text, then you should only have one row :).

Now with that in mind what you can start doing to have less requests is to combine files, this can be done for CSS, JS, Static assets. Be careful, you do not want to have HUGE static files that can impact your performance specially around HTTP2.

Hello,

I also have the same issue with the website loading time. My website is https://myvpshost.org, loading time here is WebPageTest - Running web page performance and optimization tests...

Now, when I try to check the actual load on the server it is as low as 0.02 as I am using SSD VPS for this website with only one website on the whole server it does not overload the server. On the other hand, I am aware of the tweaks done to the web server to get site loading time boosted to a minimum.

I have also tried to minify possible files and images which I could but still the loading time is an issue. I was searching for website testing sites and hence came across this website to check loading time.

Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated, so following this post.
