here is a lookup for www.yahoo.com from Dulles, VA site.
with resetting of time display in wireshark to 0 on AAAA query, it take close to 39msec before a first response and then 80 msec before the first SYN packets are sent to the back end server.
two questions:
- Do you include the entire DNS timing in your waterfall graph?
- Isnt this very high for a small lookup for famous domains? - how can we reduce this to 20-30 msec range to be reasonable?. These probes should not be adding almost 20-30% of total time for DNS time - Is it fair to ask this time be reduced?.
