Is WPT blocking ads by default?

I work in online ads and have used WPT in the past to test ad performance. But now when I try to test a page in WPT, no ads show up. Hasn’t something changed to block ads? Is there a way to turn this off?

Thanks.

No, WPT doesn’t block anything. It’s possible whetever ad server you are testing has chosen not to serve ads to WPT agents though (AOL does this AFAIK).

In advanced settings you can enable “preserve user agent string” to use the browser’s native UA string without the PTST/ indicator which usually fixes it.

Some 3rd-parties don’t server their content to AWS IP addresses as they work on the assumption their bots etc.

(Was a paper published about this a while back but can’t find it now)
