The LCP element here is text -the H1- but when I go to the LCP report, the waterfall doesn’t seem to highlight it. Is that expected? How can I see the font file that is the LCP element?

Only images get highlighted for LCP in the waterfall. For text elements things can be a lot trickier since they can render with the fallback font and then render with the custom font (if there is one). Depending on the font css, it could even require multiple font files if glyph subsetting is used. That said, it could be an interesting addition to try and pull that information out.
