What version of the test agent? The 2.10 agents should have improved support for gzip compression testing.

If this is on the same machines that are having issues with the Chrome and Firefox networking requests it’s quite possible that the IE agent is also failing to hook the winsock stack and it isn’t getting the raw headers for the requests (most of the other checks can work from a different set of hooks).
Do you have fiddler, charles proxy or any other software installed that might be trying to intercept the traffic as well?
