W3C Validation

Not to contradict myself in the previous post, but some people might find it interesting that google.com does not validate.

They purposely leave certain characters out of their source code in order to make file sizes smaller so files can be served faster to clients.

However, I think in general it is a great thing to have good markup.

Its good to have valid markup, but as google shows valid markup is a separate topic from performance.
